Biography

Jack Albertson was an American character actor dating back to vaudeville. A comedian, dancer, singer, and musician, Albertson appeared in over 30 films, dozens of television series, and over 10 Broadway shows. In addition to which he had a two radio programs, Just Plain Bill and The Jack Albertson Comedy Show.

In 1968, he won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the film The Subject Was Roses. Albertson is perhaps best known for his roles as Manny Rosen in The Poseidon Adventure, Grandpa Joe in the 1971 version of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and as Ed Brown in the 1974-1978 television sitcom Chico and the Man.
